Approved: Bike lanes on both sides of the road with a car door buffer

Te Whiti Hero Combined
Why this solution?

We’re making this street a safer part of the network by moving the existing painted bike lanes out a bit to provide a buffer space between people on bikes and parked cars. This quiet route provides a good connection between Rongotai Road and Coutts Street. The design is appropriate for this quiet street with less traffic and low vehicle speeds.

  • One parking space will be removed at each end of Te Whiti Street, making it safer for people in vehicles turning into and out of the street.
  • The two-way traffic lane will be 5.7m wide.
