The size and complexity of the area means there are a lot of possibilities, so we’re starting by finding out how you travel in the area, how easy it is to get around using different modes of transport, and what you value most in the area. At this stage there are no preferred routes or options.

Who are the improvements for?

combined small V2

Wellington City Council is looking at developing safer and more convenient cycling routes in Berhampore, Newtown and Mt Cook that will connect with important local facilities, and provide safer links to adjacent suburbs and the city.

Improvements to the cycle network will make it possible for more people of all ages and abilities to make some trips by bike. At the same time, we’ll look at possible improvements for people on foot, and in and around bus stops.

To help manage congestion as the city’s population grows, and make sure our roads can cope with the numbers who need or want to drive, we need as many people as possible to be walking, biking or taking public transport.
